Quick Twilight Comparison

Okay!  Here is my quick and dirty comparison of Laura Mercier Twilight.  I used two coats of each polish shown (although, admittedly, Neeka very well could have been a one coater).  They are all quite similar in color and tone - with just color they looked really similar in my bathroom lighting.
Paradoxal is maybe a hair more brown than the others and Neeka is definitely just a little more blue-toned than the others.
I've included this awful, blurry flash picture because it reveals the differences a little better than just the fluoro shots alone.  I hope this helps someone!  Here is a link back to my original Twilight post.

Eggnog Glittah

Today I started my mani with two coats of Rescue Beauty Lounge Fortissimo.
It's a really lovely dark brown with a hint of gray coolness to it.
Fortissimo reminds me of delicious, creamy CHOCOLATE!
I don't use my RBLs too often, but whenever I do I am reminded of how terrific the formula and application is.  I like the smaller brush, too.
Here I've added a coat of Sephora by OPI Don't be Eggnog-ious.
I was playing with the light in these pictures.
Don't be Eggnog-ious is a monotone orange/copper glitter with large hexograms and smallish - well, I don't what they are.  I think they are squares, but I can't tell for sure!
The glitter spread itself pretty well, I have to say.
I did a little smooshing things around to try and get the glitters to look as even as possible, but not too much.
And I see that there is a rather giant clump of hexograms on my ring finger...ha!  Oh well.
It looks fine, of course, in person.  :)
What do you think of this glitter and the other ones from Sephora by OPI for the holidays?
I really love them.  The red and purple are so stunning, as well.  I confess that this feels a little "simple" after so many wonderful Lynnderella glitter polishes.  But simple can be good, too!

Mashed Up Leaves

I'm sitting here writing this with a tummy ache worthy of my having just gone to the Epcot Food and Wine Festival!  It's a perfect day and we really enjoyed a lot of great food.  :)
This was actually my mani from a few days ago.  It's three coats of Color Club Nouveau Vintage.
I got it in one of the value sets at Ross, so of course there's no actual label on the bottom of the bottle.  Speaking of the bottle, check out all of that green in there!!
When I put this color on I was surprised at how much red is in the base.  The overall effect is a really lovely almost foily brown.
This definitely puts me in the mood for the Northern Fall, which I do so miss.  I also think I may trying wearing more browns this season!

My Toxic Mani

I very recently wore two of my Illamasqua Toxic Nature polishes. I started with two coats of Stagnate.

Stagnate is a mauvey brown creme. It kind of reminds me of chocolate milk, just a little.

I decided to pair it with the ever fugly yet awesome Bacterium!

It turned out pretty cool.

Bacterium is a frosty iridescent and therefore requires slightly more patience and care in applying.

The overall effect looked kind of green, kind of brown, and sometimes a silvery gray, too, depending on the light! And there's also the bit of blue flash to Bacterium.

I was bracing myself to receive negative comments from people when I wore this, but I actually got a few compliments! Score for Toxic Nature!!

Do you ever get the urge to put on fugly colors and just wear 'em proudly?

Eve

This is three coats of BB Couture for Nails Eve. It's a groovy brownish olive with a pink duochrome.

I absolutely love all the little green glitters and shimmer.

And while I do not think this is one of my best colors in terms of skin tone, I still love it! I'm not one to care too much about that. I just wish it looked more flattering on me because it's so amazing.

It reminds me a little of $OPI 212 with it's murky swampy sparkliness.

Like most BBs, it applied marvelously.

I really love my BB Couture for Nails collection. They have some amazing colors, finishes, and the formula is great.

Rewind to Halloween Time

This was a halloween-themed mani for me. I'm still trying to catch up to the present, if you will, with my pictures. I'll get there - one day, by golly!

I started with two coats of Maybelline Chic Chocolate. They did something crazy to the brush. It was cut at an awkward and strange angle. It made it rather challenging to apply the polish!

I added a coat of China Glaze Spellbound.

I picked up Spellbound last year from an e-tailer (I think it was only available online), but never got into Halloweeny manicures then. I guess I just wasn't feeling it!

I'm really glad I have this, though, because it's quite unique and super fun.

Can you believe how long my nails are here? Spooky. :)

The sad part here is that Maybellines wear like crap on me, as far as I can tell. It began chipping pretty significantly in under 24 hours.

Maybe I just need to find the right magical combination of base and top with it, huh?

That's okay, anyway. I usually change my polish every day or two at any rate. Sometimes I think it would be nice not to need to, though!

Boo-Yah, MPJ!

Okay, okay, here's another post on OPI My Private Jet. This is my third bottle. It is, of course, distinctly different than the other two. Ha! I broke down and bought this from a seller on E-bay. I'm glad it panned out!

I believe this was three coats. Isn't she a beaut?!

This appears to be the brown holo version.

Now all I need is the charcoal holo!!

It's a sickness.

I have to say in all honesty the holo doesn't show much in most lighting for me. I was a bit sad about that. But it was still a gorgeous silky smooth gray (or so it looked in "normal" lighting). The sun brings out the best, though! I adore it.

212 Breakdown

I've wanted $OPI 212 for as long as I knew it existed. I even planned to swoop it up on a business trip to NYC this past summer, at the grand opening of the Sephora Times Square 212 store! Oh best made plans... I ended up delayed in LaGuardia for endless hours instead. :(

But look! I have it, finally! Hooray!! And it is every bit as magnificent as I thought it would be! I had been playing in some loose red eyeshadow earlier, thus the lovely red tint stuck in the grooves around my nails. :) Pardon my mess!

It's smoky blackish brown with a lovely strong gold shimmer. There are holo glittah bits as well as coppery looking flakies!!

I saw the flakies more nekkid-like when I was taking off this mani and I think they are actually more pink. But amidst the slurry they turn copper-reddish. So cool! A year ago I don't know if I would have gone nuts for this mix but I think there's some magic in that bottle. If you are waffling about 212, GET IT! It's limited edition, after all. :D

Celebrating my inner Superstar!

Supa-stahhhhr!!  Here's the Lippmann Collection Superstar, from the Celebrate collection.  It's a rich brown jelly packed to the max with copper glitter.  My wee nubs are starting to grow!  It could also be my imagination...but in any case I am pleased and encouraged.  My right hand has some little chips on the ends as this is my second day wearing this and I give 'em hell at work.  I've noticed that the mega-packed glitters maybe chip a little easier off my tips.

I hope you have a Super Superstar day!
